Boys Camp

Last week was a 5 day long camp for the Young Men.  I can't journal much about it since I wasn't there but these are the pictures that David sent me.

Levi, Hyrum, and David went.  Brigham is in summer school so he wasn't able to go.  This was Hyrum's first time going with the Young Men and I'm so very grateful that David asked off of work and went.  I still remember the first camp that Levi went to and I felt terrible that he went without anyone else in our family.  We don't do sleep overs and so Levi had never been away from us for so long, except for when with family and even then, not that long!  I promised I would never let that happen again and have always had David go for our boys when it was their first time.

And from what I heard from the other leaders, it was a good thing that David went too.  David would have never told me this, because he won't brag on himself, but I guess he was teaching the boys quite a bit.  I'm just so glad that he went with his sons, more than anything.  Interestingly enough, while David was at camp he got a phone call from the Stake that they wanted to meet with him.  Guess what he got called to do?  He was put in the Stake Young Men's Presidency.

Washington Terrace Reunion

On Saturday, we went up to Washington Terrace and met up at Victory Park with some old friends.  For a few days prior to going up there, I was very anxious about it.  I was afraid of what it would do to Hyrum and Brigham, since they were the ones who missed their friends there the most.  I was also afraid of the feelings that would be brought up when we drove by our old house.  When I told this to David the night before we left to go up there, he said that he thought I would be the one who it would affect the most.  I just cried because he knew me so well.  I was so anxious over how the boys would react that I hadn't spoken or let myself think of what it could possibly do to me.

And like David always does, he tried to rescue me and offer that he just take the boys up there while I stay here.  But I knew I needed to go and I'm so glad that I did.  I'm so happy to report that no one cried on the way home...including me.  I may have cried a few times when I hugged some of our friends but they were happy tears.
Maddie and Brigham just slid right into their natural place of friendship.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of Maddie with Ruger.  They were cute together too.  He kept talking about her on the way up to Washington Terrace and ran right up to her when she came to the park.

I knew these 3 wouldn't skip a beat since they are "online" friends still.
Wendy and Russ Armstrong, Justin and Jett Yoder, Ashley Baum, and Carolyn Olsen aren't in these pictures because we took them after they left but these are our people!!!!

Camp Jeremiah Johnson

On Friday night, David took the 3 older boys to Camp Jeremiah Johnson.  The stake from our church was having a Priesthood campout that night.  They got up there and our tent was too small for them (which he told me he was afraid was going to happen before they even left, but there was nothing we could do about it) so they came back home that night after dinner and devotional.
But David took the boys back up there the next morning so they could participate in the games that day.  And I'm so glad he did!
